I have about 3,000 accounts and contacts (no opptys) that need to be realigned. There are no activities, history, attachments, etc. involved.

Rather than doing a realignment, wouldn't it be simpler to run a sql script that updates seccodeid in account, contact and accountsummary tables? This would let me do the realignment in the middle of the day rather than waiting until after hours. The process kills out server and they really want to get this done quickly.

Thanks.

Yes, it is - however, it depends on whether you have remotes or not. If you don't then, yep, go ahead and do this (make sure you catch ALL the changes!) - best to run SLX Profiler - re-align one account and see what it does and traverses.

Hi Steven,

In addition to what Mike said: Be aware that if you change Ownership (as opposed to Account Manager), you will need to update other tables (i.e. AccountSummary) or run Integrity checker for all T/A/C/O items.

It's really very messy to try and do re-alignment yourself.. Remote login after hours solves the off ours problem.. we do it all the time.
Also, make sure sync is NOT running while you are doing the re-alignment.

I would not recommend doing a realignment manually. There is just too much involved and 'missing' something would not be ideal.

I've done realignments for 3000 accounts and it does take a while to do when there is history, etc. involved. but if you are saying these accounts have no history, etc.. then it shouldn't run as long as if there were lots of history, etc for most of the accounts.

Doing this after hours is also recommended. Usually what I've done is start realignments early in the morning (I'm in at like 6:30am). No rep is up that early.
