Can you debug with VS Express?

So can you? The Microsoft Script Debugger does not have the 'oomph' I need.

I would not see a reason why not.

I don't see a reason either but errors will not trigger the debugger and now even trying to set the debug option in the client comes back with, "Microsoft Script Debugger is either not installed or is not properly configured." Of course that's not the debugger I want to us. The client then defaults to Debug:Never.

Marc,
I think you still need to install Microsoft Script Debugger - then when your script needs debugging you get to choose which debugger you want to use.
Cheers,
Steve

No dice. I didn't get a choice. It just jumped into the MSD. Never had the option to use VisualStudioExpress.
BTW, don't turn on DEBUG:Always and then uninstall the Script Debugger. The only way I was able to get out of that mess was to edit my USEROPTION entry. FYI, 1 = Always, 0 = Never

Have you turned on Just In Time debugging in VisualStudioExpress?

That's what I'm guessing. I only have:
-Environment
-Projects and Solutions
-Text Editor
-DatabaseTools
-Windows Form Designer
I've looked through them all and made sure the 'show all settings' checkbox was checked. I guess what do you want for free?

I believe VS Express also expires after a certain amount of time, making it not a long-term solution.

They do not expire - ever. According to the FAQ (See
http://www.microsoft.com/express/support/faq/default.aspx
) they are free permanently.

I've not used the express editions, but I seem to remember something about limited debugging capabilities (but can't remember for sure). Do you see anything about "attaching to a process"? Maybe try posting the question in the MS support forums for the express editions (See
http://www.microsoft.com/express/support/default.aspx#forums
). If you find out, be sure to let us know
