Minimum Amount of Contact Info Needed for a new Record

Hey guys and gals,
I'm working on a Web Service that connects via the 7.0 OLEDB Driver to our SalesLogix. Our old one for SLX 5, had a specific DataSet that was required to make a new contact, but i'm guessing that the requirements for that have changed since the new version.
Could anyone tell me the minimum required fields in the Contact table that need to be populated before I can make a 'valid' contact? What i'm getting right now, is an 'invalid contact' when i try to open up the name.
I'll dispell some of the obvious thoughts tho... Yes, i'm generating valid new Contact IDs, and Address IDs, but not the account ID...since we don't give them an acct untill they actually become a customer, so i leave that one blank.
We do have custom Fields in that table, but they're only required for form info. I'm just trying to figure out whey i'm getting the invalid contact screen when i try to open up the screen in SLX71
Thanks!
~Doc

Your problem is likely that a join that is expected to a table is missing. For a contact to really be valid, it needs and account. I think the idea of creating a contact without an associated account is flawed. SLX expects there to be an account for a contact. Also, for the account to be valid it needs an accountsummary record and address record as well.
Also, you mention creating the addressid. You're also creating the address record itself, right? It does do any good to create the ID if it doesn't match up to an address record. You'll need to populate both ADDRESSID and SHIPPINGID on the contact with a valid addressid (it can be the same one for both).
Make sure on the contact you populate the following: CONTACTID ACCOUNTID ACCOUNT LASTNAME FIRSTNAME LASTNAME_UC SECCODEID ADDRESSID SHIPPINGID CREATEUSER CREATEDATE MODIFYUSER MODIFYDATE
