Package Errors
Posted: 08 Apr 08 1:40 PM
I am not sure what I am doing wrong. Trying to customize the customer portal
7.0.1 Web Manager
1. New Package.
2. Make copy of template.
3. Edit template in new package.
4. Activate new template.
5. IISReset
6. Launch IE and when the modified page is displayed, I get the following error.
"We apologize for the inconvenience but we cannot complete your request for the following reason(s):
Your security permissions do not allow you to access this function."
If I make the changes directly to the Customer package, everything works fine.
Everything checks out when verifying the web site, so I am not sure where to look.
Thanks,
Daryl

Daryl,
Is there anything in the event viewer on the web server? It often gives a more detailed message.
I believe at some point there were some SalesLogix licenses that were limited and don't allow customization - could that be a possibility?

Jeff,
I was trying this on the eval database so I set up the customer environment and received the same error. As a result I do not think it is the SLX license.
I am doing this on XP Pro SP2 IIS 5.1
Here is the error from the Event Viewer
The description for Event ID ( 549 ) in Source ( SLXWebHost ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: Server : ZollTest
Thread ID: 4728 User: U6UJ9A00005Q
IP: 192.168.1.101 Your security permissions do not allow you to access this function..
When I reactivate the Customer package everything works correctly.
Daryl
