Display data from multiple tables in a query (7.01)
Posted: 30 May 08 2:09 PM
Does anybody know of a way to show data from multiple tables in a query? We have added an ExtendedAddress table to store extra information that is related to the address (ie. checkboxes for Small Packages and Large Packages). I would like to edit the ALTADD query to include our custom checkboxes, but the aliases I created don't show in the list of columns that can be added to the query.
If I create HTML aliases for the fields, they show in the list of columns to add to the query, but the query only returns 1 address instead of returning all of the addresses for the contact. It seems that the query can only show columns that exist in the main table specified for the query.
I know I can do away with the ExtendedAddress table and add the fields to the Address table, but any other ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Dave

Dave,
Create new aliases for the fields from the other table (ExtendedAddress) that you want but create them by starting at the main table of the query (Address) and joining to your destination table.
You can also use your HTML field - I've used them many times to allow the user to select which rows to delete.

I had CONTACT as the main table, but choosing ADDRESS as the main table resolved my problem. Thanks!
