Hello,

SalesLogix 6.2.4
Has anyone launched a Mail Merge by clinking the link for a step in a Sales Process in the web client?

Just wondering if it works.

Thank you,
Justin Kuehlthau

Thanks for the response!

I've got everything installed on one VMWare image and figured I'd check to see if it works before troubleshooting. I seem to be having troubles with all emailing options though.

Thanks again,
Justin K.

Hello,

There is only an Internet Explorer "Error on page" error that shows up in the lower left of IE. When opened it says:

Line: 122
Char: 5
Error: ActiveX component can't create object 'WScript:Shell"
Code: 0
URL: http://server:1025/scripts/slxweb.dll/wiew?name=spoppgridfrm&oppid=OQF8AA000025

The Webdll user is a local admin on the computer, not a domain user, but I wouldn't think that would cause a problem.

Thank you,
Justin K.

Hi Justin,

Local admin permissions are fine just as long as that users has read/write access to you document/Library folders.
Does normal mail-merge work via the write menu

Mail-merge works via the write menu for contacts and opportunities.

Just the Copy Opp Info to Email in the Opportunity Snapshot and clicking a step in a Sales Process to run a mail merge do not work.

Thank you,
Justin K.

The Sales Process Mail Merge creates a File with the data and then invokes a Merge From File.

In order to do so, it creates the File locally on the User's Hard Drive. The code to do so works locally and among other things checks the Registry and access the file system.

Now, based on the error message that you are getting, the problem is that the local user (the one doing the browsing) doesn't have access to the Wscript.Shell object. This is most of the times due to Browser Permissions. One approach I take is to set the SLX Site as a trusted site and then make sure that the Security Settings for ActiveX are set at least to "Prompt". Keep in mind that then it becomes a training issue to let the user know that they should allow the controls in order for SLX to function correctly.
