After upgrading SalesLogix 6.2 to 6.2.3 we have the following problem:

The leadimport page (http://our_server/scripts/slxweb.dll/leadimport) works only correct within our network. If anyone tries to fill in the request form from the internet, an error messages is displayed (Errror 500: Internal server error), after he has clicked on the submit button.

We didn't change anything except installing service pack 3.

Many thanks for any help!!!!

Thomas

This is a pretty big stab in the dark but it sounds like the WebDLL user permissions aren't being granted to the IUSR_SERVER user or the anonymous person that connects to IIS. It sounds like IIS is granting extra permissions for those on your network compared to anonymous users outside of your network. How one goes about fixing it is something I'm not quite familiar with any more but it should be possible.

Other things that come to mind are the port redirects, such as the default of 1025. Firewalls can block certain port ranges but they wouldn't usually give a 500 error as a result. Lastly did you do a shutdown of the slxweb.dll? It says to do this during bundle installs, licensing changes, etc. It's probably common for people who use this sort of stuff but I was rummaging through the implementation guide and thought I'd throw that one in just in case.

Thanks, Jeremy, for the quick reply. I could not answer earlier because I was in Vienna for a few days.

It's mysterious: I have checked everything, but it doesn't work. I have used the verification tool of the webmanager and it didn't find any error. Except the SalesLogix Service Pack 3 nothing else was installed or changed on our SalesLogix webserver. We have no port redirects or any firewall issue.

The only new thing, that I found is: if I log in into our SalesLogix Web Client from the internet and log out directly, I am able to use the leadimport page.

By the way, I have found another SalesLogix user, who has the same problems. I suppose it is bug/issue or problem of SalesLogix generally.

Thanks,
Thomas

But the problem is a HUGE bug, if you ask me, although no one did. Here's why.

Sure, it won't work until after you log into the web client. It seems to be it has to do with NOT having a cookie on your machine.

if you delete the cookies sent to your machine by the web server in question, close your browser, start it again and attempt to login, it fails. I've reproduced it plenty and can verify that it's the deleting the cookies that causes the problem. Logging in solves it because you get a new cookie.

Sense a big BUT coming? Here it is..

BUT, a leadimport user is an external user that doesn't have access to SalesLogix and can't log on, right? So what happens when someone outside of your system accesses the lead import page? They'll get an error, "$ is not a valid integer value".

To reproduce:
1) Log in to SLX from a client machine (not from the web server, although the server should work, too)
2) Log out
3) Hit the leadimport URL, it works.
4) Open your browser and "Delete Cookies"
5) Close your browser and reopen it
6) Hit the lead import URL - it fails with "$ is not a valid integer value"
7) Log into SLX
8) Log out
9) Hit the leadimport URL - it now works.

Unless I'm missing something, someone that can't log into the SalesLogix site is *exactly* the kind of user lead import is trying to capture. To me this is a big defect.

Jeff

Jeff, you are absolutely right!

Fortunately the Service Pack 4 is released, which fixes this bug.

Cheers,
Thomas

Glad to see that's out. Now to see if it fixes several other issues.
