Guys,

not sure if this is the correct forum for this but, I have a pretty indepth project for a SLX Web developer that I want to put out to bid. we are looking for some additional business partners that may or may not be interested in a adding a module to our SalesLogix web Client. I have a pretty in depth Functional Spec if anyone wants to contact me for more details.

There's only one thing better that asking for free help or advice (which is what forums like this are about).. and that's saying you are willing tp pay for it! Very refreshing!

That said, there are a bunch of guys out there that are very good Slx Web guys.. (sorry.. Web's not my forte who should be jumpin on this. You should be able to pick-n-choose...

We might be interested in this project. Give us a call. Camisa Technologies, Inc. (480) 726-5400. Speak with Mike Fron and let him know about this posting and that I recommended us.

The problem is that the current SLX web implementation sucks

Seriously.

If your project can wait for SLX 7.2 you won't be sorry as far as SLX Web is concerned! There are great things coming that will move SLX web development from what I hate the most to my favorite place to develop for SLX! All .NET development, throwing the current stuff in the garbage.

That said, if you can wait for 7.2, let me know.

We are hoping to have it by May, hopefully earlier. The existing solutions should still function in the new product.

That being said, we are also recommending the customers hold off if possible until the new technology. Obviously this isn't always an option so we are keeping our fingers crossed on the backwards comaptibility.

I concur!

Do you know if they are going to include any of the "Support" functionality in the 7.2 Web? (i.e. Defects, Contracts, RMA)

Ryan , if you can post some insights as to what is exactly getting changed with 7.2 , it will be helpful for ppl like me who has gone thru the storms setting up a slxweb website.

Will i be able to do everything thru a vis web developer 2005 ? and use any new features on 2005 ?

Hi Nandu. I would love to. I have to check on exactly how much I can say (can as in "able to" with out violating any agreements for access to alpha-builds). I'll get some details posted.

I can say, that I am finally excited about developing for SLX web - for the first time ever

Ryan (like the rest of us) is legally bound to not get into detail discussions and especially delivery dates on products that have not been released. Having said that, it is "almost public" info that something significant in web is supposed to happen in the spring of '07.

I'd encourage all to keep an eye out an NOT LISTEN to rumors. Keep close contact with your SalesLogix Partners (they ALL have been given some info and should have been talking to you already). If you find they do not, push them to find out.. If the well comes up dry, go find one (partner) who is keeping up.

More than likely this forum will be one of the first to discuss this exciting "improvement". (Humm.. better stop posting before I go too far

Merry Christmas to all!

I attended a web class (Scottsdale) in November and the instructor flat out told us the Web piece is completely overhauled. Apparently that part of it is not a secret. Rather than the server-side processing and .NET stuff, I am curious if they are still working towards the single client idea or if it has been thrown to the curb. Is that 'allowable' information?

"Overhauled"... is a polite word.. completely new code base and technology direction is a better way to describe it. The "old" web will work along with the "new" web.

No.. this is not the "single client".. Many of us believe a single client will not appear overnight.. we're still years away... technology hurdles, etc yet to be discovered and handled...
BTW.. Microsquish is struggling with all of this as well.. I've already heard of sales situations where the "squish" guys have made reference to the "new stuff" comming from SalesLogix. Think they are concerned ?
.. does that help?
