I am looking for a good breakdown on moving mods from the web client. Is my best bet to bundle the 'package'? Then move the html and js files I have modified? Are these included in the 'package'? I can't seem to find good documentation on this. Did I miss anything? Thanks

Steve, there were a couple of threads in here and ITTOOLBOX about this subject.can you refer back to that?

I beleive Jeff and Andrew has posted their findings and i have done a couple of migration with that with no problems! So that should work!

Nandu,
Found one of your posts on ITTOOLBOX. So did you bundle web data/[package name]? You must have to do this as I don't see a way to move an alias, query etc. individually.. Then you move the html .js seperately. Makes sense.

Still unclear about bundling the plugins.. is it possible to bundle individual components, like an alias or query? Or is it all or nothing with the packages? Also, when I create a bundle of the package I have put all my mods in, I don't see any reference to queries and aliases etc. Thanks

Steve,

Here's a thread that has some good suggestions on it - I usually follow Timmus' method, which addresses bundling a single query, template, alias, or action.

I added a few things to that post in this post here - see the last post at

http://www.slxdeveloper.com/forum.aspx?forumid=4000&postid=5471#5471

I always start my zip files at the "slxweb" folder and include the whole directory path (a WinZip option) and then have the customer extract to the "slxweb" folder.

Steve, Aliases and queries and other web item defnitions go into the slxweb* tables .So for moving those , you have to bundle the defnition in those tables.

First time move of the templates , you move over the db table data in a bundle and create a self installing zip for the files.Subsequent moves will only take a self installing zip and NOT a table defnition as the template name remains the same.

In any of those threads, i have NOT seen anyone suggesting bundling the whole Package!!Hopefully all those are going away on slx 7.2 when the web goes thru a complete rebuilt...

and JEFF , today we are running the affinity scripts on our production box.So far the load testing results show drastic improvement...Thanks a million again for giving me the pointer!!!
