I have encountered this following page error when click on contact, account, opportunity and ticket button on
left nav bar. "HTTP Error 404 - File or directory not found." "Internet Information Services (IIS)". In addition, the new, schedule and write button on top nav bar are also missing. It only happend to contact, opportunity, account and ticket button. No modification have been made for the Webclient thus far. I would like to get your advise issue. The error occured after the applied 6.2 sp6.

Thank You

Is the group lookup dropdown empty? It sounds like you have an asp.net problem. Check in IIS (if you are using windows 2003 server) in web service extensions that asp.net is allowed. Also run the aspnet_regiis -i from c:\windows\microsoft.net\framework\v1.1.4322 within cmd. Oh, and that assumes you have the .net framework installed!

Thanks
Nick

Did you run the .net install? And make sure it is enabled in web server extensions in IIS? It is only on the con/acc/opp/tickets screens as these use the .net plugin for the group manager.....the calendar etc is all standard web (non .net)...

Thanks
Nick

I didn't run the .net install ? How should I run .net install ? where should I get the installation file ? Should I run the .net install before or after the slx 6.2 sp6 patches ? How do I know whether it is enabled in web server extensions in IIS ? Kindly advise.

Thank You

Within IIS there is an option in the tree view for web service extensions. In here you can see all of the services IIS has and whether or not they are enabled. Please enable any in here that could be relevant (eg asp, .net, saleslogix related ones). This is assuming it is windows server 2003. If it is then .net will already be installed but you may need to register it with IIS, by running aspnet_regiis -i from the command line. CD within cmd to c:\windows\microsoft.net\framework\v1.1.4322 then run aspnet_regiis -i

After this do an iisreset and try the web client again

thanks

Hi Nick,

Thank you for your suggestion. I had successfully solved the issue. Your great help is very much appreciated.
Now, I need to recreate the customization for web client as the customisation seems not working with the sp6.

Thanks

Hi Jeff,

Glad to see that part is working. When you apply the sp6 bundles it will most likely have de-activated your customisations and activated base ones. In Web Manager highlight all of your Templates (in your package) then right click and deactivate them, then activate them. This will make sure they are released and not the base (or sp6) templates. Then do the same for Actions, Aliases and Queries. After you have done this shut down the cache and flush it (or better still do an IISReset if you can). This should reactivate your customisations.

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks
Nick
