Install Web Host for v7.01

Calling the site yields "Service Unavailable". The server HTTP Error Log has 503.2 AppOffLine errors from the access attempt. After installing the web host some of the virtual directories were not configured and had to be manually through IIS which was done. Also the application IIS-{SalesLogix//root/Scripts} (from the install manual) is not created in COM+ applications nor can it be with // characters according to Microsoft. Finally when running the verification app from web manager the scripts and mmserver directories come up with "Application Protection is not set to high (isolated) but should be. Using Win2K3 server w/ IIS 6. App pool in IIS is SalesLogix with webdll user in identity->configurable.
Any Ideas?

Try using the lightning bolt icon in web manager to build yourself a new web site. This will set up all the virtual directories as they need to be. Delete that web site im not sure how the install has made such a duff web site (you did tick the option to create the web site on install I presume??)
Thanks, Nick |

I tried that and got the error "identity or password on the application is wrong. I think there must be some problem with the webdll user. Webdll is created and referenced as a domain user (Domain\webdll) not simply a local user (Server\webdll) to that server. I have checked the metadata in IIS for the SLX web site and the user/password are correct. Any other suggestions? |

have you set the appropriate user, password and domain on the config tab in the web manager? if so double check the password, and make sure you can log onto the box as webdll to verify the account and password is correct. Then try and create the web site again. |

I just re-read the original error message you posted and it looks as though its an IIS error - not the an error thrown by the webdll. Is the web site started? Are the SLXWeb component services installed correctly for the web site (and its their configured identity corrctly set to webdll?)... |

I remembered reading somewhere that IIS 6 does not like server names with an _ or - in them. I ripped out all of SLX, changed the server name to something without the _, created new IUSR and IWAM accounts and reloaded everything SLX including the WebHot, which installed completely, created all the virtual directories and worked flawlessly. Lesson learned I guess. |

Well spotted! It must the '_' not the '-' as we have plenty of servers with a '-' that work fine. |
