Hi,

does anyone knows how I can create an ID for a SalesLogix table with a webform? E.g. how can I call the slx_dbids function from a ASP.net webform?

Thanks for any hint!
Thomas

It is really no different than calling SLX_DBIDS from any external application. The magic is in the connection string.

See http://saleslogixblog.com/rfarley/archive/2004/02/12/340.aspx

Makes no difference if it is being called from a web service, web app, or a windows app as long as it has a valid SalesLogix connection string (See http://www.slxdeveloper.com/page.aspx?action=viewarticle&articleid=55)

Hi Ryan,

thanks for your hints and the C# example.

You are right: " The magic is in the connection string."

And now I am happy

Best regards,
Thomas

which table are you trying to generate the keys for ?

some slx tables needs to be handled separately.for example , if you want to create attachments in slx, then you should be passing in "FILEATTACH" instead of "Attachment" as the tablename....dont know why that is be done that way;but was informed by my bp that all ext apps needs to code in that way.

This is not the only table, there are some other tables too who ids are to be generated by using their aliases...

You are correct. It's a topic that I don't believe is really documented anywhere else, so here you have it....(drum roll)....
