Hello all,
I have developed a very basic webservice. One of my clients has a project number that must be generated whenever an opportunity gets to a certain stage. Currently only network users are allowed to do this to prevent duplicate proj. numbers.

I am developing a web service that will allow all SLX users to create project numbers as long as they have an internet connection. I am planning on placing the web service on a web server within the clients firewall.

The idea is that network/Citrix/remote users will be able to access this functionality regardless of where they are. If the web service is on a web server within the firewall, will all users be able to access this webservice as long as the proper port is available? I plan on initiating the call to the web service from an event on a lan form.

I have not deployed a webservice other than in a test environment so I have a few grey patches. Thanks

Hi Steve,

As long as the proper holes are made in the firewall to allow access to the server where the web service resides. The fact that it is a web service makes little difference. You basically just need to allow web traffic (TCP traffic on port 80 by default unless you change that) to the server.

Thanks Ryan. As I thought, but wanted to be sure.
