Anatomy of an SLX webservice

fiogf49gjkf0d Hello all, I have developed a very basic webservice. One of my clients has a project number that must be generated whenever an opportunity gets to a certain stage. Currently only network users are allowed to do this to prevent duplicate proj. numbers.
I am developing a web service that will allow all SLX users to create project numbers as long as they have an internet connection. I am planning on placing the web service on a web server within the clients firewall.
The idea is that network/Citrix/remote users will be able to access this functionality regardless of where they are. If the web service is on a web server within the firewall, will all users be able to access this webservice as long as the proper port is available? I plan on initiating the call to the web service from an event on a lan form.
I have not deployed a webservice other than in a test environment so I have a few grey patches. Thanks |

fiogf49gjkf0d Hi Steve,
As long as the proper holes are made in the firewall to allow access to the server where the web service resides. The fact that it is a web service makes little difference. You basically just need to allow web traffic (TCP traffic on port 80 by default unless you change that) to the server.
