Hi all,
I have some problem with some of the Slx client 6.2 workstation where Slx 6.2 client cannot connnect to slx server due the following error SQL Server doesnt exist or access denied. The SLX 6.2 client was up and running for quite some while. I don't know why it cannot run now despite having several time of reinstallation with applying slx sp6. Kindly provide some suggestion for this issue.

Jeff,

Can any clients connect? If not, check your application server and DB server.

If you are having problems only with that client, try deleting the data links, and recreating it, paying special attention to your server name and database name.

If you click the ellipsis next to the database name in the Saleslogix client logon dialog, then click on , there are fairly straight-forward help descriptions built in to the client...

The SQL port is wrong!

Check if it is 1433 on the server and chances are that it is NOT..

then either install sql client tools on your slx machine or change the regkeys on the offending machine to make this happen

the key is

hklm/software/microsoft/mssqlserver/client/Supersocketnetlib/tcp and give your sql server port number.
