Hi,

I'm frequently experiencing an issue where while I have Application Architect Open where I am unable to open new applications in Windows. For example, trying to Open Word or Internet Explorer doesn't error but nothing happens. I also have problems closing windows and I can't get to task manager. When this happens within minutes, Application Architect dies and I get the following:

error creating window handle (system.windows.forms saleslogix)

I'm using 7.2 Gold Application Architect.

After this I can't open any new windows and the only way I can solve this is to reboot. Is anyone else having this issue and does anyone have any suggestions?

Regards

Daniel

Hi Daniel,

I can't say I've ever seen that. Have you tried reinstalling? I would go a step further.

  1. Uninstall the Application Architect
  2. Delete the folder "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Sage" (or "C:\ProgramData\Sage" if you're on Vista)
  3. Make sure everything is deleted under "C:\Program Files\SalesLogix"
  4. Delete the folder "C:\Documents and Settings\<User Name>\Local Settings\Application Data\Sage" (or "C:\Users\<User Name>\AppData\Local\Sage" if you're on Vista)
  5. Delete the folder "C:\Documents and Settings\<User Name>\Application Data\Sage" (or "C:\Users\<User Name>\AppData\Roaming\Sage\Platform\Output" if you're on Vista)
  6. Reinstall Application Architect

Give that a try. Good luck.

Sounds like you don't have enough... oh, what's it called? ... um... oh, yeah, memory!
I've gotten a bit farther from the metal than I used to be, but you could probably use the SysInternals utilities to track it down. See what resources are being used by which applications.
I've had a couple of outright crashes from Application Architect that I haven't looked into, so I'd not be too surprised to find out there was a memory leak or something.
Those utilities are here, if you need them:

Could this be the memory feature of AA that is causing your problem?

You need to minimize AA often. I have seen AA using 320Megs of RAM and drop to 20Megs just by minimizing and reopening.
