Snippets
Posted: 25 Oct 07 3:46 PM
Is there any documentation on this snippet stuff? I tried creating one but get an error:
Unable to locate type information 'Sage.BusinessRules.CodeSnippets.AccountBusinessRules, Sage.SnippetLibrary.CSharp' for business rule 'Account.OnBeforeUpdate'
I looked everywhere for this "SnippetLibrary" but can't find it. What am I missing?
Thanks
Nick
** EDIT ** I just found out the compilation of the snippet failed... had to restart the AA to see the error messages... so, revised question:
Can you add a reference to an external assembly within a snippet? I tried editing the XML blurb at the top but it got overwritten.

There are two ways to add an external reference
1) Edit the codesnippets.xml file to add the reference (located in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Sage\Platform\Configuration\Global)
or
(This one only applies to 7.2.2, if you're on a pre SP2 version option 1 is the only route)
2) You can now update your Assembly References right in the Application Architect. When viewing the code for your Code Snippet in the tabbed MDI workspace in Application Architect, use the combo box at the top of the docked Properties window to select “Sage.Platform.Orm.Entities.CodeSnippetHeader. This will show the editable properties for the code snippet. Edit the AssemblyReference collection and add your reference. The comments at the top of your code snippet will be updated to reflect the new assembly reference as well.
