Looking for opinions on QuickForms

Let's get straight to the point: QuickForms suck. Actually let me refine this - based on my own observations after a long morning battling Application Architect, I am convinced that quick forms (other than grid forms, maybe - those are cool) are probably going to be 5 to 10 times as slow to edit than aspx for anyone having even a moderate knowledge of ASP.NET and HTML. I suppose, however, that there is some hope that we will eventually be able to use them on the LAN client.
My question to people implementing 7.2 in production out there: are you actually using QF for non-trivial custom pages? Or are you writing those in Visual Studio outside of AA? |

We try to write most of the pages as quickforms - some however do become too complex for a quickform, so we then "convert" them into Custom Smart Parts (such as when a custom GridView is required... |

Doing everything in Quickforms.. Why?.. because if I don't there's the "possibility" that there will be severe upgrade issues later on... and I do NOT want to get caught in that trap!
The more we do in QF (and post back to Sage SalesLogix in the Partner's NG on it) the better chance they will make improvements..
Remember, we are working with a brand new system here!.. and Oh yes, SP1 for v72 is now GOLD - GA..
If you have "partner access" you can get it for your customers. It's a MUST UPGRADE sp on BOTH Windows and Web. .. and the new (web) Wizards are amazing!

You bring up a very good point - maybe if noone uses quick forms Sage will stop developing them and instead dedicate those resources on improving the performance and stability of the web client |

A few people not using them will make no difference. Sage SalesLogix development and team is committed to the Quick form approach. They are not going away anytime soon... In fact they will be expanded to support Mobile and Windows. This is the roadmap.
