Web page login

I had posted a while back about making a login page similar to the SLX login page, i was redirected to an article where this was covered, we followed those steps and we got the login page to work but, sometimes we have trouble accessing the databse from this page, we've read that this is due to network issues
we are using the following functions:
slx_getServerList()
sp_aliasList()
Usually what happens is that we cannot retrieve any servers or alias from the lists, has anyone encountered this problem before or does anyone know how I can make this work?
