I've noticed that Sage does not have any PDF documentation for using the Application Architect, and using the F1 help functionality of the Application Architect is somewhat fruitless. Does anyone have suggestions on where to get some materials on the web development?

At present there is no "additional" documentation. The best thing to do is to take the Sage (web 7.2) Developer's course.

Oh yes.. go to c:\PF\SalesLogix\Architect\Help and you will find more material. Of course it is reference material.. not "HowTo" material.

Best place is in the deployed code. Load up a deployed site in VS2005/2008 and start to look at the code. Since it is competely based on ASP.net and Ajax toolkit, check out MSDN for dev articles or pick up a good book. Professional ASP.net 2.0.

Thanks all. I'll keep reading through the limited documentation.

I just find it pretty frustrating that their application architect is so confusing. I'm an ASP.NET developer and am very familiar with AJAX and .NET 2.0. Moving over to the Application Architect has been difficult because there are so many properties that need set in obscure places with little documentation on how and where to set them.

The Application Architect is a WIP.. and like it's windows cousin (Architect) it continues to evolve....
It is intended to be the "core" Architect for the web (and eventually mobile and Windows).

General note: SalesLogix has always had a steep learning curve.... On the partner side of things, we HAVE to be certified and HAVE to take classes. (The Certification requirement is spelled out very clearly in legal partner documents). Also, once "classroom" trained, we typically spennd a lot of time digging into the guts of the system... not only from a development point of view but also as users.

Haveing an AJAX and .NET background is helpful.. but I find that having a solid understanding of just how the app works and how users use it is far more useful.

Stick with it and eventually you will get to the top of the learning curve...
