Customer Portal - 7.2
Posted: 24 Jan 08 6:20 PM
We seem to be hitting roadblocks with 7.0 so I am going to pose this question with the 7.2 platform.
Here is what our customer wants to accomplish with their customer portal.
1. Customers can log and view tickets.
2. Customers can create and maintain own personal data including password.
3. Customers can access knowledgebase/faq/downloads etc.
4. Customers can access other content such as articles, manuals etc.
5. Customers can access a forum section similar to this one.
Some of this functionality is available in the SLX Customer Portal. Is the Customer Portal a good option to deploy and then build the other pieces within it? Should we be going in another direction? Does anyone have any recommendations or guidance?
Thanks,
Daryl

You are on the right track.. forget everything web prior to v7.2.x.....
Yes, the SlxCustomerPortal is a great starting point for what you want to do.
Since you are a BP I'd suggest you build it out in a way that allows for re-use. Look into the new Sage ISV program (Development Partners - Silver/Gold)... It could be a place where you could re-sell it as well!

Without question, all this is definitely doable in the new framework. I'd love to build all that out but haven't had any need so far. Sounds like a fun project.
