I cannot figure out how to configure the customer portal for employees. The documentation states the customer portal can be sued for both customers and employees. When I try to login as a user rather than a contact, I get a message stating "A password is required to log on to this web site. Please try again." When I add a password for a user, I get the following message "The entered user does not match any registered logons in our system. Please try again or request assistance."

Am I missing something?

I don't believe you can log into the customer portal as a SLX user, only as a SLX contact. I think the docs are implying that there are more capabilities than really exist there.

This is correct - there is (no longer) any such thing as Portal for Employees (only customers). You can login to the Customer Portal using any contact who has been allowed access (see the Web Access tab at the contact level. Others, like SLX users, simply login to web client where all the ticket functionality is there by default.
