7.2.2 Install Bundle Error

I have upgraded a 6.2 client database to 7.2.
At first, I was successful with getting to 7.2.1 but was having a problem with the end of stream error caused by SYSTEMINFO:DATA field. I replaced the field from the eval database and everything worked (LAN and Web). I then tried upgrading to 7.2.2 and had errors installing the bundles so I looked around the threads and decided to start from scratch from 6.2 to make sure I applied the bundles in the correct order.
When I try to install the 7.2 VFS Upgrade Bundle I get an error message at the very end of the install process.
"Error installing model item Sage.SalesLogix (\Portal\SLXClient\SlxClient.portal.xml)
Virtual file cannot be constructed from a relative path. Make sure you path starts with the root backslash."
The bundle does not install and I cannot build the web platform. It is database specific because everything is working with the eval database.
Can anyone give me some direction?

SLX Web seems very sensitive to bundles being installed incorrectly. I was seeing this same error just last week.
In what order are you installing the bundles (both LAN and Web)?

From 6.2
LAN
SalesLogix 6.2 to 7.0 Conversion
SalesLogix 6.2 to 7.0 Upgrade Bundle
SalesLogix 7.0 to 7.2 Upgrade Bundle
SalesLogix v7.2 Service Pack 2
Web
Sage SalesLogix v7.2 VFS for Upgrades.zip (this is the bundle receiving the errors)
The order from there would be:
Sage SalesLogix v7.2 SP1 VFS Upgrade
SLX_v72_SP1_WebLeadsBundle
Sage SalesLogix v7.2 SP@ VFS Upgrade

Have you checked your path of your VSF (Right click and set source path)
Also... check your Project Workspace and see if the 'Working Path' is set to VFS:\Model |

I think it is derived from where you have your VFS (Set Source Path) but I could be wrong just guessing.
Also.... Did you clear out the project Recycle Bin before installing the VFS Upgrade bundles? |

I would try installing the VFS for upgrades BEFORE the LAN SP2.
Also I assume you starting with a freshly-restored 6.2 backup, and not trying to uninstall partially-installed web bundles. |

Resolved my issue. There was not a \Model directory in the VFS.
I was able to figure this out by selecting View Project Workspace Manager. RMB and select Edit. The Working Path was set to VFS:\Model and when I tried to click Done, I received an error icon next to the Working Path so I made the assumption it did not exist. From there, to add a directory,
1. Select View Virtual File System Explorer
2. I was able to expand and then RMB and click New Folder.
3. Enter Model
From there I was able to install bundles and build the web platforms.
Not really sure how this was deleted. |

I have the same error trying to upgrade a 7.0 SP1 HF13 database to 7.2. I tried what worked for you - no luck yet.
I also get a SLXSQLSCALARNFN error when installing the 7.0 to 7.2 upgrade bundle (prior to installing the web bundle in Web Application Architect) as well - however Client and Admin launch normally despite this error.
SalesLogix v7.0.x to 7.2 Upgrade.sxb (SLXSQLSCALARNFN error)
Sage SalesLogix v7.2 VFS for Upgrades.zip (portal error message)
With the stock SALESLOGIX_SERVER database that came on the 7.2 DVD I was able to get all the way up to SP2 SP2 HF1 with all lan/web bundles and both network and web client work without any issues.

If there are no customizations in the 7.0 web that you want to preserve (or that you wouldn't object to recreating), you can delete all the records in the virtualfilesystem table and use DTS to copy all the records from the same table in blank database.
Of course, make sure you have a good backup before trying this.

Tried that, gets past the 7.0 to 7.2 upgrade bundle without errors, but the Web bundle
v 7.2 VFS for Upgrades continues to give the same error shown below. I even tried the set source path, etc. with no luck.

Last few lines of the Install Error log..it appears to go through all the \Entity installs, and stops at the first \Portal install instruction

| I tried reboot quite few times at different stages between the upgrades and installs, but still no luck. Not quite sure what the message really means to figure out the source of the problem. |

Hari,
I was able to get everything working by the following steps.
1. in my database - delete from sysdba.virtualfilesystem
2. DTS VIRTUALFILESYSTEM from SalesLogix_blank to my database.
3. Install bundles in the following order.
A) 7.2 VFS Upgrade Bundle
B) 7.2.1 VFS
C) Web Leads Module (required prior to 7.2.2)
D) 7.2.2 VFS

This was my solution to the issue except that I copied the VFS table from a 7.2 blank database so I skipped the 7.2 VFS upgrade bundle.
Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a foolproof way to determine which version of the VFS exists in a system. But what seems to work is that if you open AA and see portals but no bundles, start with the 7.2 SP1 bundle. If there are no bundles and no portals, start with the VFS for Upgrades bundle.

The following steps helped me get past the first stage of App. Architect Bundles for a db converted from 7.0 to 7.2 - still not quite sure of the source of the problem.
1) 7.0 db upgraded to 7.2 via LAN upgrade bundle
2) Applied 7.2 SP1 bundle to db
3) Deleted VFS table
4) Using SQL DTS copied VFS table from 7.2 blank DB (without any 7.2 SPs applied)
5) Applied Sage SalesLogix v7.2 VFS for Upgrades.zip in Application Architect (went through without errors). App Architect showed portals but no bundles when this step was started.
I will go through the same exercise few more times to see if it is consistent.

| I believe if AA shows the three portals (Sage SalesLogix, Customer Portal and Lead Capture) but no bundles then you should SKIP 7.2 VFS for Upgrades and start with SP1 instead. |
