Customer Portal - w3wp.exe hogging resources
Posted: 19 May 08 9:24 AM
I have inherited some pages from a Customer Portal worked on by someone else. The OOB login page is hanging.. in the task manager the w3wp.exe service pegs out the resources to +- 99% and just hangs. This is happening accross multiple machines.
I also have another portal on the same machine that logs in fine, but when I try to save data on certain forms the same thing happens with w3wp.exe - It pegs out and just churns..
Has anyone seen this? Possible causes? Code related/system related? I tend to think it is code somewhere as it is happening accross several machines, but the login screen that is hanging is oob... Any feedback appreciate. thanks

I would tend to think that is related to something other than code, possibly something to do with the IIS application pool or something? What is the identity of the app pool for the site?

Hi Steve!
In addition to Ryan's comment; you may want to revisit permissions for WebDLL service account. It sounds as if there is a denial somewhere or can not find something (i.e. app pool).
Is this box is in the domain, not external or DMZ?
