Hyper link question
Posted: 07 Jul 08 10:53 AM
I am trying to add a link to a custom page within the customer portal. The link I am trying is like this: ../FAQSearch.aspx?entityId=Q6UJ9A000DBI - what comes out in the browser is appended with /smartparts. So if I am looking for
Http://blahblah/partner_portal/FAQSearch.aspx?entityId=Q6UJ9A000DBI
and what I am getting is
Http://blahblah/partner_portal/smartparts/FAQSearch.aspx?entityId=Q6UJ9A000DBI
. How can I work around this without hard coding the first part of the URL? Thanks

This is because you're adding the link with the path relative to the current location (which is the SmartParts dir if you're doing this on a SmartPart). You have two choices:
1) Use the "~" to indicate root of the application (meaning the root of the ASP.NET app, in this case the root of the portal). For example:
~/FAQSearch.aspx?entityId=XXXXXXXXXXXX
2) Use the absolute path from the site root. This means you'll be hard-coding the app name or virtual dir. For example:
/partner_portal/FAQSearch.aspx?entityId=XXXXXXXXXXXX
Obviously, option 1 is a better route, but wanted to mention both.

Thanks for the tip Ryan. I ended up kickin' it old school with an 'a href=' tag before I got your tip. This let me use "FAQSearch.aspx?entityID=xxxxx'
