No Valid web Host License Available Error when opening App ArchtitectYour last visit to this thread was on 1/1/1970 12:00:00 AM

I am using a client's database backup, and in the Administrator, all the licenses are valid. i have reinstalled (rtepired) the web host and ran the SP2 installs again, so i am using SLX 7.2.2.

When I try to login tothe App Architect, I get the error above.

Any ideas? please help!

Thanks,

Bruce

I believe this stems from the admin user being set as a normal user in the UserSecurity table.

I beleive the integrity checker will fix this, if not you can run:

Update sysdba.UserSecurity
Set Type = 'W'
Where USERID = 'ADMIN'

Hope this solvs your problem.

Kill SLXSystem.exe and restart the SLX Server service on the Web Server and SLX Server....

It appears to cache license information for App Architect in the SLXSystem exe.

This should fix it as Ive had this a few times now.

Nick and Brian,

Thank you for the quick response. I tried both of your suggestions to no avail. With caching in mind, I even deleted the temporary internet files under Wnidows/Microsoft.net/framework/v2.05xx/

still having the same problem.

any further ideas?

Thanks!

Ok.

Hmmm, daft question time but its has to be asked!! Are you sure you have the Web Host license installed?

If all else fails maybe reboot the SLX Server and the machine you are accessing AA on.

Thanks,
Nick

Nick,

Thanks. No daft questions around here when trying to solve a problem. They all count! Keep them coming!

when I open the administrator, and go to licenses, it lists 1 Web Host in the description, and appears to have a valid license in place. none of the licenses are highlighted in red.

I am using a backup of a customer database, which is not unusual - we do it all the time - but am wondering if there is something somehow amiss between the client's database info and our servers. I have already changed the logging path, library path, and attachment path.

On the db itself, I ran a script that we run all the time and have run on this database before that sets the sysdba password so we can use it in our connections.

Is there some other setting in SLX that I need to set or verify? It is weird that this has not happened before, although we've only had a couple of chances so far to work with 7.2 web.

Thanks!

Bruce

Next daft question: Have you opened Data Link Manager to verify that the the database you're tying to open in AA is the same copy you've updated the licenses on with Administrator, and not different DBs with the same alias?

Dan,

Thanks. Yes I just verified again that I am connecting to the correct db.

My next one is that you have verified the connection in connection manager etc.

OK. further info. i just tested the app architect with a different database and got the same exact issue.

This tells me it is not a database issue, but something in my setup that is hinky. Nice technical term for it.....

Yesterday, I opened up the 7.2 Web install folder and did a "repair" on the web Host. I then opened the SP2 install files and did the upgrade on the web host again.

I am now trying to figure out how to re-install or repair the App architect.

Try AA from a different machine. That should isolate the issue.

Hey I also had similar kind of problem...It looks like you have to remove the connection name in the server where your SQL Server resides and try adding the same alias name in SLX 7.2 server. My guess is that you have both 6.2/7.0 and 7.2 in your network, if that is the case then try doing the above steps it will solve your problem....

Whew! OK. I think I have tried just about everything mentioned here to no avail. I have installed on 3-4 different environments with the same results.

HOWEVER, I discovered something weird. Maybe it is this database - I am not sure. On a whim I tried connecting to a local eval database and it worked. So I loaded the customer database locally and suddenly app architect works fine. Somehow, app architect is not getting through to the db server from the network. I'm not sure why that would be. But when I loaded it locally, and made a connection to it, the app architect connected right away.

I talked with Sage for 2 hours on the initial problem and have shared with them what I have jsut found. I have yet to hear anythign back from them as to what may be the cause.

Anybody have any ideas what would cause this new behavior?

Thanks!

Bruce
