Low performance on webclient?Your last visit to this thread was on 1/1/1970 12:00:00 AM

Hello, I have set up 7.2 Web on our live webserver and it is rather slow. Its even (much) more slower on a virtual machine while the classical client hast nearly the same speed as on a real machine. It seems to be the same as with 7.5 web. What are your expericences with performance? Which hardware for an installation of 200 users where 50 might be online with the webclient at the same time?

There are some things you can do to help speed performance of the web client in both 7.2.2 and 7.5. Check the installation manual for a few tips. Use of Firefox will be supported in 7.5SP1 and that helps quite a bit. The slowdown is actually in IE

I've not seen or heard of any re-write of the ActiveX parts to be able to run on FF (or Chrome, Safari, etc) for SP1. So if one wants to do MM, etc.. then one is still stuck w/IE in SP1.

AFAIK All Sage is planning to do is officially test it in QA and make sure it displays, runs "correctly".

In addition to Rich's comments; try testing with IE 7. You should see some performance improvements there.

Dave Wallace mentioned at Summit for SP1 that not only will Firefox be fully qualified for SLX web, but that also includes mail merge and outlook integration (activemail) as well. He made it a point to mention that several times since that is obviously BIG news. I would, of course, assume that this would mean no ActiveX since FF doesn't support ActiveX.

That is some awesome news.

Well that's good news. I only wished that the same info had been sent out in partner newsletters as well.
I'm sure that 90%+ of the community is completely in the dark over it.
