i recently installed web reporting on a clients computer and it seemed to work great from inside their network. But when i tried it from outside of their network it no longer worked.
when i run a report i get a error i looked at the address bar and saw that it was looking for "http://MACHINENAME:3334/...". i found that when i entered the machine name and the external IP address in the host file it worked fine. and i found that if i change the Web Dependencies to have the external IP Address it pulls that in instead of the machine name and so it works great externally but not internally.
Is there a way to get this to work both internally and externally without having to modify the host files?

The question is "why cant users see the external IP address internally", which is a question for whoever looks after your IP/firewall/DNS settings....

One things for sure, your external users will never be able to use the Internal machine name, so the only resolution is to get the above sorted.
