Changing opportunity descriptions across the system

Good day,
One of our clients wants to change the naming convention from Opportunities to Orders across the whole system. To me it seems that you wil never be able to change every description in the system from Opportunities to Orders. Has anyone done something like this? Do you think it is even feasible to try?
Thanks

| I have done this to an extent - really about as far as it is practical to go. The places you will not be able to change it are obviously the database and hardcoded pieces that aren't accessible. We basically had to train our users that when they see the word opportunity, it means the same thing as sales order. It works fine for us, but you can't change the whole system. Unless they have extensive customizations in the system, it might be better to make a few changes in the actual SalesOrder customizations and use that - just untie it from the opportunity. I have done this once as well and it works quite nicely. You could just hid opportunity in most places and tell people to ignore it. |

When we have similar requests, we typically hide all the standard opportunity stuff then create a new sub-system to meet the client's needs. This works for us, because in addition to changing the name, our clients also need lots of changes to the standard opportunity components. Plus, we never get stepped on by a SalesLogix upgrade or service pack.
