I understand that I can create an agent that can run a report and email it. I am on verstion 6.2.3.1116 in the administrator. I have outlook installed on the sync server which is separate from the SLX server. However, after I have scheduled the agent to run, I don't get any email of the report. Once this works I would also like to send parameters to the report.

Thanks for any advice.

Can't say I've ever done that with Agent - but I do it with SQL Reports and it works great there. I know, not what you were asking, but I at least wanted to mention a much easier route to accomplish the same result.

It's also been a known issue with reports that when you use them with agents, they don't entirely function correctly. v7 Report manager is nicely redone and Crystal gets an upgrade so one would hope agents that send reports would be a little more functional. Since you don't have access to the Application.* methods that make sense in an Agent, including just those in v7 would be nice (ReportAddCondition?). I'm going from memory so the issue I'm thinking of may have been resolved in v x.x.x but I remember this being a reoccuring thread in discussion groups.

Ryan,

You're saying you create reports in SQL Reporting services that you can then automatically email? But you can't use SQL Reporting Services to generate a Crystal 8.5 report. Correct?

SQL Reports cannot run Crystal reports, but really SQL Reports are *far* easier and faster to build than Crystal reports. But yeah, SQL Reports has that kind of functionality built right in. You can subscribe to a report have have it delivered on a schedule, or sent out based on some database value changing. Really cool stuff.

Ryan,

I'm new to v6.2 . All the reports I've done has been through Group tabs in v5.2. Is there any way that you can post a simplistic SQL report that goes through Account, Opportunity and Product table, that I can use as a guide for developing additional reports. Also how do we run a SQL report. I know this sounds dumb, but I'm really new to a server environment.

I'm currently working on an article outlining how to convert a SLX Crystal report to an equivalent SQL report, which I hope to have posted to SLXDeveloper by the end of this week.

Oooo! Thank you. I have both environments here but never looked into using SQL Reporting Services to generate reports. We like to keep everything all within one interface. The SLX interface in this case which is limited to Crystal Reports.
