The base currency has been set as USD in our installation. Now when a product is being created for INDIA the price expected by the system is USD, which can never be the case, the price of a product being sold in INDIA will be INR. Similarly while creating an opportunity the system expects to enter the adjustment price in USD, this is incorrect as the negotiated price will be in INR. All opportunities are to be created in a currency of a sales person’s choice. A single sales person may be selling product in multiple countries hence multiple currencies. So both the product master and the opportunity have to have options to store both the base currency and local currency (value and currency).

Ashish - if you're complaining about how Multicurrency functions in SalesLogix, here's a virtual high-five! Indeed although you can specify exchange rates in various currencies and assign a user to their local currency, all Opportunity valuations must be entered in the base currency (USD). Of course the local salesperson doesn't understand this, as they "think" in their currency, not in USD.
We also encountered errors with Multicurrency with users in Europe as SLX did not handle the translation between decimal (e.g. 67.03) and comma (e.g. 67,03) very well, sometimes causing the value to be 100x what was originally entered.
After much flogging, we finally decided to switch off Multicurrency and apologize to our non-US colleagues that everything must be in USD.
If anyone out there is happily using multicurrency I'd enjoy hearing what its good for.
