SLX 7.2.2 Groups
Posted: 12 Aug 08 8:09 AM

Hello everybody! I've installed SLX7.2 SP2. After it all groups have been multiplied by quantity of its shares (users+access teams). about 1500 groups in account module is really uncomfortable! Is it an issue or a kind of "innovation"? Can I somehow customize it back?
Beforehand thanks! Andrey |

Hi Andrey,
You need to set the admin user to view groups for a SalesLogix user, rather than admin who sees all groups.
You have to make this change in the Sales Client in "Group Options" select "Manage Groups...", then select the "Show Groups" checkbox and pick either "Visible To" or "Owned By" ("Owned By" should give a smaller list) and then select a user hopefully with the smallest number of groups.
Cheers,
Steve |

Steve, thanks a lot for your reply! I tried to play with it. User is able to see "all visible to him" groups by default settings, and it's ok, because in our system almost all groups are owned by admin. But after using this settings another issue occurs: I've got many cases when a group is shared to several user teams, and if the user is a member of all these teams, then he sees this group multiplied by team count. And he can't change this settings. Even if he could, then it would be very hard to customize these options to all users. I hope, there is a light way to get back to "old view"

Hi Andrey
Are you sure that it is the same group that is released to multiple teams? Or are the groups copies of one another, with each copy being released to its own team?
You will need to check Releases in Architect to verify this.

Hi Phil! Thanks for your interest! I'm sure. Groups were created by me and I did not create any copies for new releases. It was fine before the installation of SP2, but now each group have new tag for each user/team. Like this: Group1(USER1) | Group1(USER2) | Group1(Team1) .... Group2(USER3) | .... etc Such view I have only in "visible to" mode. In "owned by" mode it's almost ok, except the thing, that Groups owned by other users are unavailable
With the hope of making it clear, Andrey |
