QA Sync Server

Hello All,
I have a test environment which is a backup of our Production environment, and I am trying to run the sync server to test an error we are getting on a remote. When I back the database up from production I run a SQL script (in the Query Analyzer) to update the logging paths to the QA logging paths in the BranchOptions table and the Serverpath in the SyncServer table. I have also deleted the record in the SyncServiceFile table.
Now when I log into the Sync Server it tells me that this sync server is not registered on the database server and asks me if I would like to register it. I'm a little concerned that there is still a connection to production (somewhere) and this might change something in production. Has anyone ever seen this message box and clicked through it?
Any help would be appreciated.
