Hey there,

Im having a problem with my outlook integration owith SLX, When i create an appointment via outlook it is storing it in SLX but not in GMT format thus im having lots of issues.

Anyone have any idea's, Its not happening to everyone and were using intelliSync, we dumped ExchangeLink after a disasterous implementation

Regards,

Marc

Hi Marc
I can't answer your question but I am intrigued with your comments re Exchange Link. We are one of the first (only) Exchange Link user in Australia and after some significatn issues we have it working well. If you have 5 can you tell me what your issues were so that I can be armed if they come up?
Thanks

Our main issues were as follows:
1/ If User A creates Activity and nominates User B as Leader then the Activity appears in SLX Calendar but then disappears after EL cycle. If User A saves the Activity with them as Leader, selects OK then immediately Edits the Activity and changes Leader to User B then function is OK. Also creates a 1900 1030 Activity for the deleted one!

2/
a) If user creates and completes an activity before an EL cycle then the Activity is recreated
b) If User creates and deletes an activity before an EL cycle then the Activity is recreated by EL

3/ If User changes Activity time on existing Activity then it is duplicated?

4/ Variation between a MSO event coming into SLX ... 1 month late

5/ If a MSO invitation is accepted where
a) MSO invitation was created by an SLX User then the SLX Meeting is created with SalesRep = Create User and can be changed if the recipient has acecss to this users calendar
b) If the MSO invitation was created by non SLX User then the SLX Meeting is created with SalesRep = Administrator and can be changed on completion
c) Some 'Confirmations' appear in SLX not sure where they come from

And resolutions as follows:

1/ Removing Location and Meeting Outcomes field which are non native casued division by zero issue ... they have been removed and tested OK.

2/
a) Function is as designed according to sage - we would need to raise a 'Feature Request’ for it to not behave this way. If User needs to create a Completed Activity in 1 action then the Activity Notepad should be used. This avoids an Activity record being created and function is OK
b) Replicated ... considered OK to live with i.e. unlikely to happen regularly. Solution to 1 may fix this anyway

3/ Unable to replicate (Dec 08)

4/ Replicated ... HF2 fixes this. - applied Jan 09

5/
a) Function is as designed. Create User should be using Local SLX User function (this is a customisation we added to force ubique activity into other users calendar)
b) Function is as designed
c)

Tom, I absolutely feel where you're coming from. We have had very similar experiences with some clients. THe details of each roll out really make a difference since client needs vary so much and certain "issues" with these tools are only a problem if you use Outlook in a specific way, etc. It can get messy!

So, Intellisync 7.5, so far seems very solid. Assuming you don't have mobile client users (Like Blackberry, not offline web client) then you'll be in good shape. Mobile introduces a duplication issue that should be fixed with Mobile 5.5 which is a BETA right now.

To answer your question, check the following... I have found that sometimes the Intellisync setup either overwrites or adjusts this file setting during install/configuration, and leaves out this key parameter value altogether. The symptom is that meetings don't sync with correct time values...

Verify that the connection.config file (located in Intelpub\wwwroot\Intellisync\ directory) contains the following.
“TIMEZONE=NONE”

It should looke something like:
Provider=SLXOLEDB.1ersist Security Info=True;Initial Catalog=SALESLOGIX_EVAL;Data Source=ServerName;Extended Properties="PORT=1706;LOG=ON;ACTIVITYSECURITY=OFF;TIMEZONE=NONE"

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks,
Todd

Hi Todd
You mentioned Intellisync 7.5 .. we ditched Intellisync pretty quickly and went with Exchange Link and are running v8.0 with success. So I think we are talking about 2 different things.
Either way we don't have an issue with 'meetings don't sync with correct time values'.
Cheers
