Hyporthetical - You are stuck on a desert island with three identical servers - lets say Win2k3, 32 bit, 4gig ram. You have about 100 users and you have to run the following components: DB, App server, speedsearch server, web server, reports server. No Sync server. Say web and lan use is split 50/50. What components would you group together on each server?

If these will not be used to run the client via terminal/citrix server I would do the following:

Server1
Database Server

Server2
Report Server
Speedsearch Server

Server3
SLX App Server (Connection Manager)
Web Server

If reports are not heavilly used you could also put the SLX Web Server on Server2 and use load balancing to leverage both Server2 and Server3.

You have no redundancy but that is a much deeper conversation.

I hope this helps.
