activity errors on 7.51

Hi all. Really hoping someone's seen this before. Here's my issue:
Our sales reps are getting errors editing activities on the calendar. The symptom is if you edit multiple activities (in this case, meetings) on the calendar, you'll start getting errors after editing only a few. The errors start with an access violation error, then sometimes you'll get an invalid floating point operation error, and sometimes a series of OK message boxes with no other text.
If you just reschedule by dragging meetings from one day to another, you don't get the error. Because of the defect where you can't drag activities into a different month, the reps have to reschedule those by editing the meetings, and that's where you start to get errors. I thought it something to do with the editing of the timeless flag, but actually if you just edit a series of meetings on the calendar, you get the errors.
The environment is slx 7.51 (recently upgraded from 6.2), remotes and Citrix clients, SQL Server 2000 (soon to be upgraded), MSDE on the remotes.
The problems started after the upgrade. It's effecting numerous users, both on remotes (mainly) and on Citrix. We have done no customization whatsoever to the activity side of slx. I've tried:
- Deleting the user options (suggested by someone who had similar symptoms and this fixed it). This seems to help for a while but it reoccurs. - Doing a complete clean uninstall/reinstall of 7.51 on the systems of the effected users. - Checking for join issues - Reinstalling the upgrade bundles - Running all Integrity Checker tests
I've also tried to user the Profiler to look at the sql statements. When the errors happens, the last statement showing in the profiler is:
SELECT USER_ACTIVITY.ACTIVITYID, USER_ACTIVITY.USERID, USER_ACTIVITY.CONFIRMED FROM USER_ACTIVITY WHERE USER_ACTIVITY.ACTIVITYID = 'V9GKFA100110'
I run that statement in the administrator and it executes fine. So the problem appears to be with what happens after that sql statement.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

One of the changes from 6.2 to 7.x is the "move" (not qute) of the Alarm and Alarm Time columns from the Activity level to the User Activity level.
I have not ran into this issue myself, but it may be that that change on the code and how it needs to calculate a move is affecting all users.
Prior to this change, if there were multiple users on an Activity, changes to an Alarm would affect all users. Now, it would affect only a specific user. So, it is possible that some of the problems indeed are related to the Alarm field.
I would suggest you make sure that all Activities have a "T" or "F" (no nulls) and the same at the User_Activity to beging with. Also, if the User_Activity has the alarm set to "T" make sure that there is data on the AlarmTime field.
Other than that, you probably need to check with SAGE support and check if they have a fix. |

Raul, I did see some nulls in the activity and user_activity tables and I converted those to falses. Didn't seem to help. I'm seeing the same problem with newly-created activities, not just activities that were created prior to upgrade.
I'm going to try what I can think of to try over the weekend, and if no progress, go to Sage tech support. Haven't had to do that in many years. |
