Hi,

I'm trying to look into switching our users over to exchangelink from intellisync (we're still on 7.2 but will eventually be upgrading to the web client) because of the need to be able to create and edit appointments in their blackberries. Our problem is that our reseller is telling us that there is no filter on the activity/appointment sync. With Intellisync I would have users flag appointments with a special category, and set up a filter to only sync appointments in that category. I was hoping that we could work out some sort of filter so that not ALL our appointments get loaded into SalesLogix. Is that possible?

Thanks in advance!
Zeph

Your reseller is incorrect. Filters can be applied. See here:

So you should be fine!

Thanks for the info Mike. We're also concerned about Activity Syncronization. Can the same type of filters be applied to Activities? Or do the contact rules control activity sync? I.E. all activities for contacts in a group get synchronized. In a perfect world, we'd like our field reps to be able to control the addition to SLX on a per-activity basis.

Thanks again!
Zeph

No, not that granular I'm afraid - activities are distinct from contacts (have no relevance).

I urge caution with considering ExchangeLink. We have found it to be terribly unstable (from the mild "it doesn't work" to the wild "it randomly wrote the bosses calendar to other random people in the organization"). I've spoken with several resellers that have all gone through the ExchangeLink nightmare and went back to intellisync. ExchangeLink tech support doesn't want to help you unless you have a sizeable enough user base to generate revenue that makes it worth their effort. We've had very damaging experiences with ExchangeLink from end to end.

I do agree that there are still some pains out there with Exchange Link.
I have worked with indeed a big SLX Client and have helped them deploy, configure and Maintain it.

There are some performance issues still built in (although not as bad as it was in the past), but overall it does a decent job.

Never the less, I do suggest you first deploy it and test it on a Test Environment so that you could learn how to configure it properly.
