What does it mean in the Datalink Properties when I try to test the connection and get "Test Connection Failed", "Could Not Establish Connection with SLXServer, check server is running and port is correct". I have restarted MSDE, and using port 1706.

Try opening Task Manager and checking for "rogue" SalesLogix processes already running.

Make sure that:
- The Connection has been properly setup in Connection Manager (go back into it, edit it and click on test, it should work without you having to make any changes).
- Make sure that the SLX Service is running.
- If the SLXSystem is configured to run as a Service, review which account it is running under. I would suggest you don't use the Local System account.
Also, if the SLXSystem is running it, kill it and let it restart. Sometimes it freezes up (specially if it has been loaded for a while) and may cause this type of problems.
- Also, if SLXSystem is not configured to run as a Service, you may want to consider configuring it as a Service.
