Hello everyone,
I have a contact process which will create a series of tasks over a set period of time. It has been running perfectly for a while. but recently, I noticed that sometimes it created 2 tasks at the sametime - for example, it supposes to create task1 on Mar. 1 and then create task 2 on May 1, but somehow, on some records (not all records) it created task1 and task 2 on the same day, Mar 1 and the nextaction field was setup with a wrong date on these records.
I never made any changes on the contact process, and when I check the values on the process records, it looks fine.
Anyone has experience on this - Why it happened and how to fix it?

Thanks a lot in advance!
S. J.

There are so many unknowns in your post here....

Version of SalesLogix?
What are the attributes of the process step?

Basically it sounds like the process is getting triggered twice every once in a while. There are a couple of ways that can happen:

1. You have remote users, especially a few that are "part time" remotes where they some times work on the network, and sometimes on their remote database - the process may get triggered once on each if they are not staying on top of sync.

2. You have 3rd party scheduling & you are on an older version of SLX. There used to be a problem that if you had a person launch a process that assigned a task to somebody else, it could be triggered by either the person who launched it OR the person it was supposed to be launched for (and every now and then BOTH). That was the single biggest problem with processes and made them unpredictable. That was the reason why the script on this site for launching a process sets both users to be the same person - to avoid that.

Hope that helps... but more info from you would might help narrow it down...

Thanks a lot for your response Walter!
we are using slx 7.52. we do not have remote users. the process is pretty simple - generate a series of activities on 30days 90 days ... after the start date.

I launch the process, and then update the activity's userid by assigning script to the process. the process has been running for more than a year, it worked perfectly. but starting from early this year, the process began to generated wrong activities. sometime, it works well, but some time it created dupe activities.
Actually I have a couple contact processes, at one point in early this year, all of these processes created dupe activities. After I deleted a testing process created by someone else in my team and removed the test records in the process table. now the other processes are running well, but still one process is still generating wrong activities.

Any ideas?

Thanks a lot!!!

I'm not sure what you mean here... but it worries me. Details please?

Also - a couple of things
1. bad records in the process table are really bad news - i know when i was first developing my script i discovered that if you get a bad record in the table, then nothing would run at all until i got rid of it. Do you remember what was wrong with the testing records? That might give us a clue here..

2. How are you getting the processes to scan?

3. Have you tried re-releasing the process plugin? Maybe the blob corrupted...

I'm also curious why you are using a process for this... i would have just scripted the three activities - i like processes for when you want a particular action to trigger another step and branching - like completing a qualification phone call asking a question and then routing the user to the next appropriate step.

The part that worried me -- that somehow did not make that previous post was where you say that you run a script to reassign the activity....
Are you also getting the calendar entry? I would have just launched the process via script here... code is on this site.

I could be off track on this, I don't user processes much but folks like me to customize it periodically.

If I recall correctly a process once created is self contained. So when assigned it is copied in full into the target and if updated later the targets are not, they run the old version.
Also during one of the upgrades (several probably) changes were made to the how processes operated, I say this because a process created a while ago, might not function exactly as expected.
I know after the 7.2 (or 7.50) upgrade I needed to update customizations I'd done to several processes and how they fired to avoid inconsistent triggering too
