Possible Windows 7 issue?

I currently have 2 network users and 10 remote users. We're running SLX 7.5.2 with Hotfix 7 and SQL Server 2008. 2 of my remote users have identical Windows 7 machines that have been running 7.5.2 for about 2 months now without a problem. They're my only two Windows 7 users. Sometime between last Thursday and yesterday both suddenly became unable to log in. The error upon login attempt for both was simply Unable to Login: Unspecified Error. I called Sage yesterday. They had me create a new datalink, but that didn't work. They suggested updating the MS SQL Native Client 2008 to the 64-bit version, even though I assured them that's what I'd installed originally. They were adamant that I'd installed the 32-bit, so I did it anyway, but without any success. And, of course, as I'm typing this and I went to try again, one of the computers is suddenly able to connect, but the other is still the same error. Anyone have any ideas? |

Back in the dark ages I've seen some issues where Windows could not resolve your machine name to an IP address unless you were either on the network, or had a VPN connection active.
The solution for it back then was to set your data link to use either (localhost), dot (.), or the ip loopback (127.0.0.1).
Don't know if that helps... but it's something to look at. |
