Saleslogix version: 7.5.3.4233


Hello all
This one user has been issued a new laptop, so I cut him a new database, attached remote, but when I attempt a login, I get that message.  He was working fine on the old laptop.  He can access fine via Citrix. 
I cut him a second database and attached the remote to different laptop with same message.
I cut a database for another user, attached remote on that same laptop and works fine.
Everyone has full access to the c:\documents and settings\all users\application data\saleslogix
User is local administrator of computer
Using Sysinternal's Procmon, I can see there's some communication to the server during the login, so we installed SQL Management Studio and the only table we can see that references the server is BRANCHOPTIONS, but those same settings exist for somebody else that works fine.
Within Saleslogix Admin, we made him a network user and back to remote, but same thing.

Aside from re-creating his account is there anything else we can do?  Are we overlooking something like a setting within his tables?

Based on your description of the issue, the problem occurs when the user tries to login into his Remote Database.


So, there are several possibilities here:


a) Not enough Permissions on the Local Machine


  The Remote SLX Client uses a local folder for Logging Path (e.g. C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\SalesLogix\Sync )


  Based on the Error Message, it appears as if your User doesn't have enought rights to access (or create) the necessary files and folders for SalesLogix to Work.


 


b) The Alias configured on the Remote Machine may be pointing to the Wrong Database


  If the Alias you are using on the Remote Machine points to the Server, instead of the Local SLXRemote instance of SalesLogix, then depending on Connectivity you may be getting this error.


  And, given the fact that PROCMON is showing Communication to the Server, this may be the likely cause.


 


c) The Remote Database is getting corrupted and it is storing the Logging Path for the Server.

The user has full access to the folders and local admin of the machine.  I'm curious about your posibilities b and c. 

For b, everything seems to point to the local database.  I cannot find anything in the connection settings that points to the server.  Is there somewhere else like the tables that would hold the value?

For c, what's the fix for a corrupt remote databse?

Hi Jim, I agree with Raul.


A few months ago I had a similar problem and somehow the users rights on both the local machine (in this case the users not based at the main office also have a domain log on to access other information), had got changed. After a process of sorting out these rights the Saleslogix error message, the same as yours, was resloved.


This only happened for a few remote users.
