We have an issue where multiple (30+ each) entries for 'SalesLogix Library', 'My vCard', and 'SalesLogix Contact vCard' display on the Insert menu of Word.

Has anyone seen this before? Is there a fix? We are on 6.2 SP 1.

Is Word the email editor for Outlook? If so turn it off. The existing toolbar is for emails written in Outlooks editor. If you use Word, all sorts of fun and unsupported things occur.

Hi Jeremy,

Thanks for your response. This happens on several users' machines, some with Word as the email editor and others not. We have MS Word 2003... it may be a problem with our version of Word and not SLX, we've had other strange issues with it before.

Now that you mention Word 2003, there is known issues with Office 2003 SP2. It mainly has to do with email security breaking but SP3 hotfix 8 I believe is what fixes that. I don't think SP2 fixes any issues with Office but I know when we were on SP2 we didn't have any such issues because my door would have been beat down until the problem was resolved. I don't think this particular problem is a known issue though so upgrading may or may not fix it. Reproducing the problem in a testing environment and then upgrading that version to SP3 hotfix 8 may be a good thing to try. The problem with that is it's difficult to reproduce a problem when you have no clue of the root cause of that problem. Even if you knew the root cause you could just avoid whatever steps were taken to produce the problem in the first place (making the point of testing and upgrading moot while providing a good step-by-step guide to fixing your clients).

I believe you're not supposed to have Word as the email editor at all. I know the implementation guide says this but in testing it doesn't appear to be that big of a problem. Everything functions but it can get screwy real quick.

Lastly perhaps check Disabled items to see if the SalesLogix dlls are showing up there. I wouldn't think they would be as those menu items should only show up when they're enabled but maybe something funky is happening in relation to the disabled items section. It's definately worth looking at just to see if something gets hung (which the SalesLogix dlls are known to do from time to time).

This has been replicated by SLX QA - and a defect written up (a check was made for < 2 - they didn't expect any more than that. A fix will be issued in due course.
