SalesLogix Contact Data for non-SLX users

I have a client that would like to make SLX contact data available to users in Outlook, even though those users may not have SLX themselves.
I imagine that this could be achieved through the use of an Exchange public folder.
Any ideas, anyone?
Thanks Phil |

Many moons ago Gene Underwood posted a script on the BP newsgroups that was a script that would update the contact records and then using Intellisync you could then transfer the contact records over to a public Exchange folder. I don't have that script handy right now, it could be on an old backup somewhere if you needed me to dig it out. But another alternative you might want to consider is using ExchangeLink to transfer the contacts into a public folder.

Thanks Ted.
Can Exchange Link be used to populate the personal name/address book for Exchange users who do not use SalesLogix?
This client does not want to use public folders.

Hi Phil:
I am not actually sure, we are looking at installing the latest version of Exchange Link but we have not done so yet. My guess is that it would, but that is only a guess, and probably not too educated either .
Sorry I couldn't be much more help. Since I am no longer working for a business partner some of my resources have disappeard. But RJL is our business partner, and I am sure he would know the answer - or at least be able to answer it better and find the answer. He is down in DC right now but he might catch up on the forum some time later in the week.

Hi Phil & Ted,
Back from Insights.. it was GREAT this year!
Ok.. Since the EL User logs into Exchange it has the ability to access ANY mailbox, therefore we have part of the equation solved (destination(s)).
The other part involves the "Link Filter" (source(s)). You can no longer specify you want ALL contacts (like in v7 EL) but have to pick either: a - By User/Team b - Contacts with Open Opportunities c - Adhoc Group (by Slx User) So I'd try using "a" since it's not tied to a particular user in SalesLogix. -- RJLedger - rjlSystems "...Customer First..."

Oh yes.. make sure you set the Link to Synch ONE WAY: From SalesLogix to Exchange ONLY! You do not want typical Exchange users killing off your SalesLogix contacts! -- RJLedger - rjlSystems "...Customer First..."

FYI - EL8 is now GOLD - GA...
Note to all: If you are a BP you get it from the "usual" place. If you are a customer you get it from your BP. -- RJLedger - rjlSystems "...Customer First..." |
