Weird slowdown issue with SalesLogix
Posted: 12 Feb 08 7:16 AM
We are runing saleLogix 6.2.3.1007 on SQL 2000 and W2K3 enterprise. The clients are installed locally and also run in a Citrix environment. We keep having a issue with SaleLogix running very slow and cannot seem to pin it down. It will run great for about 3 weeks and then when you run the client the inititial blue progress bar hangs at about 95% complete and the line above it says "Initialzation - Enumerating Printers" (picture below). It eventally keeps moving and lets you login, but it is extremely slow after that point. It's not a random thing, once it occurs it happens on all clients and it slow across the board.
Our developers have no idea waht could be causing this. We have re-indexed the DB, updated the statictics on the DB, made sure each and every network piece is perfect, increased the packet size to 8192 and numerous other items.
Is there some sort of intitialzation process that is getting hung up that would affect this?
Thanks in advance,
Jon Washer

We've seen this before...
There's postings on the Partners NG back as far as Aug 2005 on it.
Either too many different printer drivers installed or some are pointing to non-existing printers.

I have this issue at one of our clients. I checked out the archived NG articles and found a couple other suggestions in regards to printers accross domains and printer setting inside of Citrix.
Can you think of any other things to try besides limiting the number of printers available on terminal server? From what I hear, the majic number is under 5.... What if that is not an option?
