I've been using SLX for two years and I am just now wanting to use SpeedSearch. But when I try it I get two dialog messages saying "error getting search path. unable to communicate with the SpeedSearch Service. Alias: TPS_Production"

and then another box saying "Initialization failed. SpeedSearch is not properly configured. Please contact your administrator.

I want to be able to use SpeedSearch to have ability to search for words in notes/history. ???

This simply means it's not been setup. You (or your admin) need to go to the server and run the s/search configuration. Then, within Admin - tell it what to index via Tools | Speedsearch .... You should find this then fixes it !

... and, of course, make sure that the service is set to start automatically! It is not unusual for an "unused" service to be stopped by an Admin.

Hi, yeah - I thought it would be that simple too. Hmmm? I have the configuration open here. I have the Server selected. I have the database selected. It's all good but still i get that error message. i wonder if it is the port number? It says 1706?

Thanks a lot
