Problem with Ad hoc GroupsYour last visit to this thread was on 1/1/1970 12:00:00 AM

One of the user reported that a couple of groups that she created have been flooded with additional contacts. They don't seem to have all contacts dumped into them but quite a large number. For eg., the group with 74 contacts has increased by about 3000. She is an experienced Saleslogix user and I don't think it could be user error.

How could this happen? Has anyone experienced this scenario?

Is there any way we can import group from our test system which has the original group intact?

Thanks

There are a couple of things to keep in mind:

When it comes to an Adhoc group (or a Share of it), they use the ID of the Parent Group (the main copy) as the DataCode, which it uses to get the listed Contacts out of the ADHOCGROUP table.

So, this is what you need to do to verify the data on both DBs:
- Get the DataCode from the Plugin table for the Group (or Release Copy) that this user has access to.
- Query the AdhocGroup Table on both DBs based where the GroupID matches the DataCode value.

Also, it is always possible for someone else to have added those Contacts, and/or for those Contacts to have been there all along, but she may not have had access to them. The moment she is granted access to those Contacts, if they happen to be part of the Group, it would now show them to her without the need for any additional change.

If the Test performed above indeed reveals that there are a bunch more Contacts, then you could Delete the Records on your DB, and copy the ones from your Test system. Just keep in mind that if you have Synchronization enabled you will need to Delete and Write this data through the provider (you could use the Execute SQL tool within the Admin to do this as well.
