Query building
Posted: 28 Mar 08 12:44 PM
Would it be better to create a query within SLX with the Query Builder or would it be easier to just query against the SQL DB. I need to know how many emails was captured in a 2 year time period and might need to extract them later for something else.
And if anyone can provide me some steps or any tutorials on using the Query Builder to get started I'd appreciate it.
Thanks,

Personally I use ADO Explorer for most of my query work. Mostly because any updates will sync out. In your case you are just doing a select so that's not important.
One thing to keep in mind is that the LONGNOTES field is a BLOB and must be extracted differently than a normal text field.

Hi Harvey,
There are free online workshops on using the Query Builder on the SalesLogix User site, GoodTraining.com:
http://www.goodtraining.com/blogs/goodworkshops/archive/2008/04/08/May-12_2C00_-2008-_2D00_-Using-the-Query-Builder-for-SalesLogix-v6.2-and-Above.aspx
That site is another community site of mine for SLX end-users and administrators. The workshops are led by a certified SLX trainer and they are completely free.
