Oracle to MSSQL
Posted: 14 Jul 08 9:44 AM
I won't go into all the details of why but we are considering moving our database from Oracle (10g) to MS SQL 2005.
Anyone with experience doing this? I'm sure we'll work with our BP on this but I'm curious what is involved and if anyone else has gone through this what their experiences were.
Thanks!
Marc

I did the opposite, moving from SQL (2K) to Oracle.
Basically it's quite easy: you start from a blank DB and then run a DTS to transfer data.
OK, you've to play some trick with PK's and constraints, but it should be fine.
Pay attention to customized tables and DATA TYPES that are different from Oracle to MS
HTH,
Dave.
