Logging into copy of SLX database?
Posted: 12 Jun 08 1:11 PM
I just duplicated our production SLX database for the purpose of testing an external app. I would have used the eval database but I need our real production data in there. I've configured it in the connection manager and that connects fine. I can also connect to it via Administrator with no problem. However, I'm getting the "Unable to initialize data dictionary" error when I try to connect via Client. I read the other posts regarding this error but the circumstances do not apply. Does any one have suggestions? I'm running 7.2 SP2 with SQL Server 2000. Thanks!

Brian,
Did you find a root cause for your scenario? I am dealing with this error message, but cannot get to the bottom of it. It comes back after a while, basically once a day in a testing environment for 7.2.2 I've tried everything else I can find on the error, with no fix yet.

I never did find a fix for it. I finally gave up and just tested my app against production. Good luck!

When you restore a database - you must run the sysdba fix. A simple test is to go into Query Analyser/Studio as sysdba and execute "select * from userinfo". NB: There is deliberately no prefix (sysdba.userinfo) and there should not be. If all goes well, you will get data back - otherwise, it will complain.
