On a new install. MS Server 2003

I am not able to create the databases. The error is

Database Server Validation Failed
and
MS SQLServer 2000 or higher not found on this machine

I have both SQL 2000 and 2005 installed. I'm searching for some answers but not finding anything. Have you run into this, do we have support with SLX.

Checked the services and they are all running

Any ideas

Thanks

Tim

you ned to give more info.
Is a AttachRemote issue or you can't manage the sqlserver?
Look at the service and get the instance name (it'll be the -s parameter of the command line)
Make sure you are connecting to it using the right syntax servername\instancename
then try NT authentication to connect, bother with sql authentication until NT works

Thanks Lane

It's a clean install and I have SQL 2000 and 2005 installed. I did express install when done I noticed the databases were never created, Eval DB and Empty DB. So I went to the DVD and from Standard install I tried running "Install SQL Databases", which opens the SalesLogix Database Installation Utility. This dialog has "Copy Database From" (pointing to the DVD), checkboxes for Attach SLX Blank DB and Attach SLX Eval DB and the Button, Attach DBs. Pressing the button retuns the two error messages. At the bottom of this dialog in the Status bar is the message "Database Server validation failed. Please Try again."

On install, the SLX connection manager went ahead and created the two SLX database connections, production and eval. I want them to use SQL 2005. I tried editing these to use SQLclient and also tried OLEDB. Both succeed in the Test connection but the Database Utility still fails to see that SQL server exists on the Machine.

What I don't know is why it failed and what it is looking for.
In MS Manage Server\Services all SLX and SQL services are running.
Could it be a Ports issue?

I don't know what other information might be helpful.

Thanks

Tim

Tim:

On the Installation Media, under the Database folder you will find the MDF files for the DBs.

You just need to:
- Create the Sysdba user
- Attach the MDF file(s)
- Map your Sysdba Server user to the DB user if needed

Pure Genius! Worked perfectly. Why didn't I think of that?

Thanks

Tim

oh, one other thing, I also ran the SQL query in the same database folder on the DVD, sysdbafix_script.sql, on both databases to get them to connect.

Thanks for your help.
